Michele (Micki) Baker
MEET OUR MUSIC DIRECTOR
Michele holds a BA in Music Education from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, NY, and a Master's degree in Business Management from Antioch University. She taught instrumental and vocal music and conducted bands and choruses in New York for ten years.
Michele was the founding director of the Union College Concert Band. She worked for the Rensselaer County Chapter of NYSARC, New York State's largest nonprofit organization supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilbilties, for more than 20 years. She plays most wind instruments and piano and gives private piano lessons.
Michele moved to Florida in 1998. She has been the music director at Central Christian Church since 2011. She recently retired from the South Shore Campus of Hillsborough Community College.
Michele joined our chorus in 2003 and has been our bass section leader and assistant director for many years. In 2024, we were excited to hire her as our new director! Michele says she is thrilled to work with such a wonderful group of talented women. The feeling is mutual!
